Upahar Madurai is a non-profit non-governmental organisation serving the visually impaired and hearing impaired since 1984. The mission of the organisation is to support the disabled students for their education and rehabilitation. It is implementing several programmes for the welfare of the disabled people in Madurai and its nearby areas. Its main activities are integrated education, vocational training, Community Based Rehabilitation and organising training programmes.

Sense International (India) is providing technical expertise by way of training and support to its staff in identification and assessment of deafblind children in Madurai and its surroundings.
