National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped, Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh
The National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped, situated
at Secundrabad, Andhra Pradesh is one of the premiere institutions
in the country in the field of Mental Health. Formed under
the ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government
of India, it is involved in providing services for mentally
handicapped people, conducting research in the field of mental
health and dissemination of information throughout the country.
Besides this it also conducts various courses at the under
graduate and diploma level in the field of mental retardation
and special education. It also offers short-term training
programmes for professionals and practioners in the field.
Sense International (India) is providing technical expertise
by way of training and support to its staff in running a day
care centre for deafblind children at the institute.
