National Association for the Blind, Karnataka, Bangalore
The National Association for the Blind, Karnataka branch was
established in 1977 with a wide range of activities for the
education, training and placement of blind persons. The association
is running training centers for imparting mobility training
and vocational training to blind persons from all over the
state.
It is also involved in implementing Integrated Education
Programmes in the urban and rural areas. Blind children attend
regular schools as day scholars and live with their parents.
Community Based Rehabilitation programmes for the rural blind
are also implemented by the organisation. Besides this it
also has an employment and placement service for blind candidates
and a self-employment programme for blind persons.
Sense International (India) is supporting the Association
in establishing a Home based programme for deafblind children
in Bangalore and its surrounding villages.
