Our plans for the future making
a bigger impact
We
have made an enormous impact on the lives of many deafblind people and we are
very proud of these achievements. We want to build upon the expertise and experience
that we have gained to date to use the next stage in our development to make an
even bigger impact. The need is unquestionable - there remain hundreds of thousands
of deafblind people receiving no support at all - and we now have the organisational
capacity to accelerate and expand our work and make an even more significant and
lasting difference for deafblind people throughout the world. Our
strategy from 2005 to 2010 is therefore about making a bigger impact - reaching
more deafblind people in more states. To achieve
this we will be focussing on four key areas: - WE WILL BUILD LOCAL
CAPACITY
We will work to ensure the sustainability of local projects
by supporting partners to achieve financial and operational independence.
We will decentralise programme management and empower partners and local
people to have more control. - WE WILL INCREASE SERVICES
We will increase the services that are available to deafblind people. There
will be more services for more people, ensuring that from birth to old age deafblind
people receive appropriate services. We will aim to ensure that no deafblind
person has to travel more than one day to reach a service that is appropriate
for their needs. - WE WILL MAXIMISE QUALITY AND EFFICIENCY
We will ensure the high quality of all our work and the projects we support.
We will constantly review performance and structures, ensuring that we remain
cost-effective and efficient, maximising the outcome of every pound raised.
