Early intervention & Identification

Early screening and identification is key to ensure provisions of timely intervention to young babies with deafblindness and multi-sensory impairment. Sensory deficit leads to delayed development in the child and Early Intervention helps the child to reach his/her developmental milestones.

Income generation activity and vocational training

Economic independence of a person, including persons with deafblindness is much spoken about and brought into the limelight to eradicate poverty and unemployment. Adulthood is a time when people start looking for self-identity, utilising learnt skills to achieve financial independence.

The significant work of Sense India is to build the capacity of various stakeholders like persons with deafblindness, their parents and caregivers, special educators, senior professionals, caregivers, teachers from inclusive education system, medical and para medical professionals and government officials on identifying and understanding the needs and issues on deafblindness. Special educators and senior professionals who are working in the field of deafblindness sometimes find it difficult to find appropriate opportunities to update their knowledge & skills and learn about latest interventions, ideas being followed in the field.
